General Information

This section provides some answers to some common questions, our web-site address and who to contact for Technical Support.

Common Questions
Q. When I try to connect to North Farm, I get a message that it can't locate the modem.  Why can't it find the modem?
A. Check to see what com port your modem is set to use.  You can do this by clicking on your Windows Start button, Settings and then Control Panel.  Double-click on Modems and click on the Diagnostics tab.  You should see a list of com ports.  Note the one that has your modem listed.

Then, in Visual NF-One, click on Setup and then Computer Configuration.  Click on the Communications Setup tab.  Make sure the com port shown here matches what you saw in the Modem Diagnostics.  If it doesn't match, change the setting here so that it does.

If the settings match, try setting the Communications Port Speed to 19200.


Q.

I've downloaded my invoice and I've printed the individual invoices.  Why aren't Sale Prices and/or Sales Tax showing up?
A. Go to the Setup menu and choose North Farm Setup.  Under the Invoice Options tab, make sure that the box is checked for each of the charges or discounts you want to distribute to the members.

Q.

Why am I getting an error message that says that some files don't exist when I attempt to Enter Member Orders?
A. Certain files are not included in the installation files.  You are required to download them from the BBS.  To retrieve the product data files, select Update Product Data from the Ordering menu.

Q.

I just downloaded the installation files from the web site.  Why am I getting an error message saying it can't find c:\temp\vnfone\setup.tdf?
A. Go to Start / Run/ and type c:\temp\vnfone\setup.exe and click on the OK button.  That will start the installation program.

Q.

I bought a new computer, and tried to reload my existing NF-One program that I had saved on zip drive, but it won't work.  It keeps coming up with error messages.
A. Download it off the internet and run the installation program.  It needs to be installed, not copied.

Q.

I would like to transfer my program to another computer.
A. Copy the data folder and copy the User folder that are in the NF-One folder.  Also, any file that is an order name like Order.DBF, Order.CDX, and ordertemp.DBF.  The program needs to be setup by running setup.exe then copy the data into the nfone folder.  Lastly, run the Visual NF-One program it should detect the information.  You will probably have to go to the utilities menu choice and select a different customer to get the information.  

Q.

I have the newest edition of windows, called Millennium, will that work with NF-One.
A. Windows Millennium has not been tested with NF-One.

Q.

Will NF-One work on a Mac?
A. Visual NF-One might run on a Mac, but we don't recommend it.

Q.

Does Visual NF-One work with a T-1 Line or a DSL connection?
A. Yes, if you are running version 2001.09.20. Contact ehunt@northfarm.com for installation instructions.
